Eligibility Criteria

• Must demonstrate strong academic performance
• Must show a track record of meaningful community service
• Must have financial need
• Must plan to attend an accredited college, university, or vocational/technical school

Scholarship Details

• At least thirteen $25,000 scholarships awarded annually
• Funds may be used for tuition, fees, books, and other education-related expenses
• Scholarship checks are made payable directly to the educational institution
• Recipients participate in a one-year leadership and mentoring program
• Part of the broader Chick-fil-A Scholars Program

The Voice of Democracy is open to students in grades 9-12 by the Oct. 31 deadline who are enrolled in a public, private, or parochial high school or home study program in the United States, its territories and possessions, or dependents of U.S. military or civilian personnel in overseas schools.

Record your original 3-5 minute (+ or – 5 second max.) audio essay on a flash drive, or other electronic device. You will submit the recording, typed essay and this completed entry form. Provide these items to your school/group competition or VFW Post for judging.

• Applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:

• Senior Standing – Complete four years of high school in the U.S., a U.S territory, or on a U.S. military base and plan to graduate in spring 2026.
• Fall College Enrollment – Intend to enroll in an accredited four-year college beginning in fall 2026.
• GPA – Earn a minimum cumulative unweighted GPA of 3.75 or above.
• Test Scores — Submit standardized test score(s) from one of the following: SAT, ACT, AP, or IB exam. There is no minimum score requirement to apply, however, applicants must have taken one (or more) of these tests and submit the score.
• Demonstrate Unmet Financial Need – We will consider applicants with a family adjusted gross income up to $95,000. During the selection process, the Foundation will conduct a comprehensive financial review, taking into account all income and assets of the student and their parents.

Must be attending a four-year university next year.

To be eligible, a student must be:

• A high school senior and/or expecting to receive a high school diploma during the current academic year.
• An active member in good standing of a National Honor Society chapter, meeting all membership requirements and obligations of the local chapter.
• An NHS student account holder, verified by the NHS chapter adviser.
• Planning to pursue a degree at an accredited U.S. college or university.

High School seniors who are graduating in 2026 and live in the areas served by Mediacom are eligible. 

Scholarship awardees may attend any accredited two-year or four-year college, university, technical or vocational school within the United States.
